History

Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Northern Prince George’s County, and the City of Laurel joined in 2014 to create the Central Maryland Transportation & Mobility Consortium to advance their cooperative efforts to maintain an efficient and effective coordinated regional bus system in Maryland.  The bus system is the Regional Transportation Agency of Central Maryland (RTA).

Structure of the Organization

The Central Maryland Transportation and Mobility Commission (CMTMC) represents Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Northern Prince George’s County, and the City of Laurel. From each of these jurisdictions, two representatives sit on the CMTMC. The group is responsible for promoting the parties’ interests and providing guidance for the transit services operated by RTA.

The Central Maryland Transportation and Mobility Commission’s bylaws can be found here.

The Central Maryland Transportation & Mobility Commission meets quarterly. Meetings are typically held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the 4th Tuesday of March, June, and September; however, dates, times, and locations are subject to change. The December meeting is held on the 2nd Tuesday due to the holiday.  Meetings are conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams and at rotating partner jurisdiction locations.
